Nothing publishes itself. Every article goes through the secretariat's review queue.
Submitting

Press Submit for review in the editor. The article moves from Draft to In review and appears in the moderators' queue.
You can keep editing after submitting, but do not expect a reviewer to notice that you changed something after they started reading.
The five states
| State | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Yours alone. Nobody else sees it. | Write. Submit when ready. |
| In review | Waiting on a moderator. | Wait. |
| Changes needed | A moderator wants edits. Their note is shown on your article in /write. | Make the edits, submit again. |
| Published | Live at /blog. | Nothing. Share it. |
| Not published | Rejected. The reason is shown with the article. | Read the note. A rewrite may be welcome; ask. |
The review note
For changes needed and not published, the moderator writes a note explaining
why. It is shown inline against the article in your list at /write, and it is also
included in the email you receive. It is the most useful thing in the whole flow, so
read it properly before resubmitting.
The emails
You get one when your article is approved, when changes are requested, and when it is rejected. All three arrive at your account address.
Resubmitting after changes
Edit the article and press submit again. It goes back to In review and returns to the queue. There is no limit on how many rounds this takes.
Who reviews
Staff at /admin/blog. See moderating the Dispatch if you want
to know what they see. Deleting an article is admin-only, so a rejected piece is not
destroyed; it simply stays unpublished.
