/admin/config/conference holds the public words: who the society is, what this
conference is, and how to reach you.
What lives here
| Group | Fields |
|---|---|
| Society copy | The text used on the homepage when no conference is being promoted. |
| Active event | The current conference's public description. |
| Venue | Where it happens. Shown on the homepage and used on the payment page. |
| Awards | The list of awards given out. Rendered as its own homepage section. |
| Query contacts | Named people with an email or phone, for delegates who need to ask something. |
| Email signatories | Who outgoing emails are signed by. |
Query contacts matter more than they look
They are the only route a delegate has to a human. They appear on the homepage and on the payment page, and every troubleshooting path in the delegate docs ends with "ask the secretariat". If they are empty or wrong, delegates have nowhere to go and the secretariat's personal inboxes fill up instead.
Put at least one address there before opening registration, and use one somebody actually monitors.
Dates and venue
These also feed the launch checklist. If they are blank, the checklist keeps telling you the conference is not ready, which is correct.
Writing for the homepage
Keep it short. The homepage is a hero, a few sections and a call to action, not a brochure. Long paragraphs wrap badly on a phone, which is where most delegates will read it.
Changing copy after launch
Safe at any time. Copy changes do not affect any delegate record, and the public site picks them up immediately. This is not true of operating modes or fees, which do change what happens to people.
