An account is optional. You can register, get allotted, pay and attend without ever creating one, using only your private status link.
An account is useful because it gives you a dashboard that finds your registration by email, so you never have to keep track of the link.
Creating one
Go to /signup. There are two tabs.
-
Password. Enter your email, choose a password of at least eight characters, and type it again to confirm. You are signed in straight away.
-
Magic link. Enter your email and nothing else. A sign-in link is emailed to you. Click it and you are signed in, with no password to remember. You can set a password later from
/account.
Tip
Use the same email address you used on the registration form. The dashboard matches your account to your registration by email address alone. It ignores capitalisation, but it will not match two different addresses.
If the address is already in use
Two things can cause this.
- You already made a delegate account. Sign in instead, at
/signin. - The address belongs to a staff or writer account. Signup deliberately refuses to convert an existing non-delegate account into a delegate one. Use a different address, or ask the secretariat.
What an account does not do
Creating an account does not register you for the conference, does not reserve a portfolio, and does not link an existing registration made under a different email. Registration and accounts are separate things that happen to be matched by email.
Rate limits
Signup is limited to five attempts per hour from the same address. If you hit it, wait rather than retrying, or you will simply keep hitting it.
